Kaplan University PS 375 Psychology of Addiction Unit 8 Assignment Movie Option â€Å"The Lost Weekend† For this assignment I have chosen to use a film I saw years ago but had a chance to view again a few months ago for the second time while stationed overseas at Mildenhall AFB. United Kingdom. The first time I saw this film, I was a young Marine in my first enlistment and generally on weekends off time we drank, and we drank heavily, today I realize we fit the criteria under the DSM-5 for Early Alcohol abuse. In terms of the DSM-5, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, commonly referred to as the DSM-V or DSM 5, is the most current version of the American Psychiatric Association’s standard reference literature on the names, symptoms, and diagnostic features of every recognized mental illness, including addictions. New alcohol users could roughly equate to displaying 0-2 of the 11 symptoms. The problem is that a person could never understand if social or occasional drinking will develop into the development of alcohol use disorder.
