Cypop 5 Essay It helps children to deal with difficult circumstances such as emotional stress or medical treatments. Play gives children chance to let off steam and have fun. Children learn when they are in a safe and caring environment. They are stimulated through play. Babies and young children develop best when they are in a caring relationship with an adult. A baby will learn to walk faster when they have a safe pair of arms to walk towards and learn to talk when they have an adult who listens to them and responds accordingly. I aim to provide children with an environment that is caring, fun and stimulating. I aim to expand each childs individual, intellectual, physical and emotional capacities within a secure environment where each child, will be confident and settled. I will implement ideas from the EYFS and I will provide activities/opportunities that support the six main learning areas which are : * Knowledge Understanding Of the World * Personal social and emotional development * Communication language and literacy * Creative Development * Physical Development * Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy. Each child will be able to choose their own activities and access continuous provision throughout these six areas. Activities will be both planned and spontaneous according to your child’s preference. My weekly plan will be dependent on the children in my care and their ages and stages of development although I will be attending various groups and clubs within the local area that I live. Sample weekly plan: Morning afternoon Monday outdoor playchildren’s centre childminders group Tuesday -soft indoor play (wacky)creative play/ arts and crafts Wednesday-country park/ play areachildren’s centre playgroup Thursday baking/cookingoutdoor play Friday children’s centre groupindoor play at home Play can be constructed to fulfil areas of the EYFS, especially any areas where a child may be struggling, such as Playing with sand Texture, Weight, Pouring through containers, colours, measuring, shapes, make sand castles etc this can link to the following areas of the EYFS– personal development – personal, social and emotional development creative development – communication language and literacy All of the above would be flexible dependant on the children and any new sessions that can be accessed. Before any weekly plan can be made you would need to observe the children in your care to produce a plan that is appropriate to their development this will also help identify when to add/remove new toys/resources. I will use Natural resources and household items to provide stimulating play for the children to look after such as Sawdust and Bark for dinosaur play, jugs, funnels, guttering for water play, blankets pillows and throws and pegs for den building and communication friendly spaces etc. All children are individuals first, each with a unique profile of abilities. All planning starts with observing children in order to understand and consider their interests, development and learning. I will make systematic observations and assessments of each child’s achievements ,interests and learning styles. I will use these observations and assessments to identify learning priorities and plan relevant and motivating learning experiences for each child that I care for. I will match their observations to the expectations of the development matters principles. I will need to make regular observations on each child, using different techniques. These may include photographs, tick lists written observations and photographs. Where a child is not achieving their development goals I may then decide to speak to the parents regarding accessing other services for the child. All children need to feel valued and given the same options. I will ensure that children, parents/carers and visitors have equal rights and choices. Everyone will be given the respect that we all deserve as individuals. No person will be discriminated against and any remarks or comments of this kind will be challenged and discussed to ensure that it does not happen again. I welcome and include all children, their families and members of the community into my setting and I will ensure my setting is accessible to everyone. If a child in my care had specific requirements, certain changes would be made to the interior and exterior of my premises, dependent on the individuals circumstances. Certain activities are also adapted. All the children who come to my setting will have the same opportunities available to them. I am aware of the following legislation, The Children’s Act, The disability Act, UN convention on the Right of the Child, The children’s Bill 2004 and the Special Educational Needs Discrimination Act 2001. I will talk to different specialist groups, health visitors and read appropriate books to learn more about the condition and needs of the child, thus enabling me to provide the best possible care. If a child required assistance from a speech therapist or occupational therapist, then this could be arranged at my setting if it was more convenient for parents. I will do displays and have equipment in my setting that promotes a positive multi cultural attitude. I welcome parents/carers and visitors to talk about cultures, religions, food, clothes etc. I will never refuse or exclude a child. I will build on each child’s previous experience when accessing play opportunities. I will enable children to gain confidence and independence in play and identify individual requirements and provide appropriate support as/when required. I will also borrow and gain resources to enhance the inclusion of children with mobility or sensory difficulties. During snack time I will encourage children to help where appropriate eg. Older children could help butter crackers, or younger children could help divide fruit onto plates, I will encourage the children to help prepare our shopping list for the week for snacks and mealtimes and also encourage them to help with the meal plan for the week. Charles Dickens A Tale of Two Cities :: GCSE English Literature Coursework

In the 16th century Charles Dickens wrote the unforgettable novel A Tale of Two Cities. In it he created two of the most remarkable fictional characters of all time. One is the bloodthirsty Madame Defarge, and the other is the selfless Sydney Carton. Madame Defarge is a peasant who seeks revenge on all aristocrats who cross her path. In contrast, Sydney Carton is a man who is willing to do anything for the love of his life. While the actions of these two characters clearly delineate their differences, the underlying forces that drive each character are quite similar. From Madame Defarge’s actions, it is clear that she is the evil antagonist in the novel. Even in the manner that she is physically described, she is presented as â€Å"dark† and therefore she is seen as evil. She is as evil as she is because when she was younger the D’Evremonde brothers killed her whole family. Now the purpose of her life is to procure revenge on the D’Evremonde family and every other aristocrat. Even when told by her beloved husband she has gone to far, she does not stop. Instead her repartee to him was, â€Å"Tell the wind and fire where to stop; not me†. In it she evidently expresses how she will never forget what was done to her family and how the D’Evermondes are deserving of what they will receive. The actions she performs in her daily life demonstrate her evilness. In the novel it seems as though she is the â€Å"bad guy† who is starting up all the trouble. It is her need for revenge, in the book, that starts th e revolution. While Dickens presents Sydney Carton as a worthless drunk, in contrast to Madame Defarge, he is the Christ-like noble figure of the novel. He appears to the readers of A Tale of Two Cities as a worthless drunk and a man who has not acquired any high social position in his life. Also, it seems as though his life has resulted to nothing. At one point he says, â€Å"I care for no man on earth, and no man on earth cares for me†, but that changes when he meets Lucie Manette. He develops an undying juvenile-like love for her. Sydney is willing to do anything for her and tells her so in a beautiful speech he made to her. In it he states, â€Å"Think now and then that there is a man who would give up his life, to keep a life you love beside you†.

Effective communication is vital for every organisation such as United Confectionary Ltd. It starts with the selection, recruitment and employment of qualified, skilled and experienced people. This guidance sheet for the new staff handbook should direct you through the recruitment and retention process. The first step of the recruitment process is to identify a job role. A vacancy may occur as more jobs are created as the business expands or restructures, also the retirement or dismissal of an employee can create a vacancy. The promotion of the jobholder can lead to a vacant job role or the jobholder could of left for alternative employee elsewhere. Once the business has notification of a vacancy, the next step is to create a job description. The job description is drawn up by the jobholder and has to include the job title and location, the main purpose of the job, a detailed list of the main tasks involved and the standards that are required by the company, the amount of pay and other benefits and lastly the person to whom the jobholder reports to. Using all the features needed I have made an example job description for United Confectionary Ltd who need to employ a sales team to be led by a sales director. To begin the job title would be sales director, the location of job is London and the department is sales . The main purpose of the job is make sure the sales team use the website created to help United Confectionary Ltd to maintain there position as the forefront of the confectionary market. The main tasks involved is to keep the website up and running without problems and to deal with sales directly from retailers and also making sure the sales team are doing their job correctly. The pay would à ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½35,000 and benefits such as a company car. The person to who the sales director would need to report to would be the manager. In the job description you will also need to include a person specification. A person specification details the quality of an model candidate, which includes their health, qualifications, general intelligence, special skills, interests, personal qualities and personal circumstances. The person specification is usually written in smaller font under the job description, using all the appropriate details I have made an example person specification for the job description above. To start you need to have details of health, such as not being allergic to such things as chocolate. You would need to have minimum qualifications such as GCSEs in Maths, English and I, a-level is business and a minimum degree of 2.1 in Sales Marketing. Specials skills and general intelligence would be to have the ability to use the Internet comfortably and to create spreadsheets and databases. Work related experience would need to be included such as a year working an in general office environment. Interests would include hobbies for instance painting and cooking. Personal qualities would be to have the ability to work in team, having good organisational skills, able to prioritise workloads and good communication skills. The next step is to advertise the vacancy. There are traditional ways of advertising and more modern ways mainly Internet based methods as I will explain. The traditional ways of advertising a vacancy is in the local newspaper, the local shops in their windows, posters, career fairs and word of mouth. The more modern Internet based ways of advertising are advertising on your own website, on job websites or by web advertisement. After adverting the vacancy to reduce time and costs in advertising it may be more suitable to find an appropriate candidate internally. The advantages of finding candidates could increase motivation to work, opportunities for promotion will attract better staff to join the business, internal candidates are familiar with organisation and know most of the training and relevant information about the business. Also the candidates are known to the business meaning other workers have a existing working relationship with them. However there are disadvantages to finding candidates internally such as promotion may bring conflict, which could result, to workers leaving and an unhealthy work relationship. This also creates another vacancy that needs to be filled and also promoted employees may be expected to pick up a job without adequate time or training. You could also find candidates externally through schools, colleges and universities, job centres, employment agencies, recruitment consultants, advertisements in newspapers and professional journals. The advantage of finding candidates externally is that you have a wider range of applicants, there may be more suitable applicants and candidates may contribute new ideas to the organisation. Disadvantages of finding candidates externally is that is more expensive, new employees may need training and time to create a good working relationship with the employer and also external candidates are more aware of the job market. The next step is short listing. When applications have been received such as paper based curriculum vitae, application forms and online curriculum vitae and application forms. The most suitable candidates for the next stage must be identified. Candidates are short listed if they meet agreed criteria’s such as qualifications and experience, which is in the person specification. An impressive job application may help a candidate to get on the shortlist. Once a short-listed has been created the references are checked to confirm the list. The next step is to interview the candidates on the short list. When interviewing applicants you need to look at employability skills such as suitable qualifications, experience, knowledge of your products, being able to meet targets and the ability to observe a raise standards. Staff are an important part of every business. Keeping staff is very important for a business. This is known as staff retention. Retention is keeping employees at the workplace for as long as possible to benefit from their experience. Also if an employee joins the business and then decides to leave quickly the business has to go through the recruitment process again which costs time and money. They try to avoid this as it costs lots of money and also staff can begin feeling fed up and unhappy as they may have to do extra work until a new employee is recruited which could take time. Business have a measurement to work out how long staff are staying within the business and are able to work out targets to maintain a trend. The key measurement used is known as staff turnover where the number of staff leaving is worked out as a percentage of all employed staff of that year. This is how the percentage is worked out: Number of staff leaving in a year Average number of staff employed in that year This helps the business to monitor trends to see how many employees are leaving and to see if there is a problem with their human resources and what could be done to improve it.
